My second bike was a Yamaha XJ6. It followed a Yamaha Fazer 250. Not my very first bike, but the first bike I bought with my own money when I "returned" to biking. I chose the 250 over a 125/150cc because I considered myself skilled enough for it. The XJ was later replaced with a Tiger 800 and then a 900. But I find myself all the time choosing the Honda SH150i for prett much anything that does not involve a road trip. And new, smaller bikes keep making me think and re-think ownership of the Tiger 900.
Fun selection and reflections! CB350-GT750-XLCH-FXE-FLH’s before they were fashionable. Sold the last 2 Harley’s at peak and had dozens of BMW’s, mostly GS with same money. TDM, several Transalps, PC800s,Guzzis,KLRs, a DL1000 upon release and always wished I had waited for the 650. Got one this year for $1300! Also a Cagiva, R90S, ST1100. Currently the Dueville and KLX250S are my favorites with the Wee Strom! I’ve gotten paid to ride and never been without a bike, mostly primary transportation. 50 states, most of Canada and some Mexico. It’s a big sweet life!

I know exactly what you mean. despite having two mid size bikes, I always gravitate towards my Super Cub. That is my go-to bike at the moment.

Sounds like you had your cake and ate it too! ST1100 is on my short list of bikes to own, as well as the ST1300 and FJR1300.
